Funding creative new programs that can scale across counties


Total Available: $2,000 (distributed across accepted applications)

Who Can Apply: Montana County 4-H programs (joint applications welcome!)

Deadlines: November 1st & April 1st (if funds remain)

Grant Purpose
This grant opportunity provides financial support to new programs with innovative efforts and specific outcomes that can be duplicated from one county to another. There are $2,000 total grant dollars available.

Eligibility
Any Montana County 4-H youth program. A joint application between several counties is acceptable. Grant criteria:

  • Innovative youth or adult volunteer leader educational programs. Program efforts that are currently conducted are not eligible.

  • Programs currently being conducted in other states qualify.

  • The project must have the potential to be replicated in other Montana counties.

  • The project can reach existing or new audiences.

  • The application team and teaching team (can be different) must include an Extension staff person, an adult volunteer, and a teen volunteer.

  • Project and evaluation must be completed within one year of the submission deadline.

Application Process
Complete the online application here. The application asks for the following information.

  • Target audience, educational objectives, resources - available and to be developed, outline and source of curriculum, and a projected budget.

  • Program timeline, including start, end, and length of components

  • Evaluation procedure to determine if educational objectives have been met.

Also required:

  • Names of team members applying.

  • Name and mailing address of group to which funds are to be awarded.

  • Agreement to return funds if the planning process to implement the program has not begun within eleven months of the submission deadline.

  • Submit a letter of evaluation upon completion of the project.

The Montana 4-H Foundation reserves the right to deny supportive funding for individuals or groups from counties or reservations that are not in good financial standing having paid member contributions, volunteer dues, certification background checks and training, fees associated with the oversight of funds (1% fees), registrations, or any other bills/invoices due to the Montana 4-H Foundation or the Montana 4-H Center for Youth Development. Denial will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
